Jozef Meyers is an architecture student and designer inspired by modern philosophies, world cultures, and the intricate beauty of natural systems like biofusion and neural networks in mycelium. His creative journey began amidst midcentury modern architecture and furniture, fostering a deep commitment to sustainable and conscientious design practices. Growing up in the culturally rich environment of Kalamazoo, he developed an abstract, inclusive perspective that informs his work today.
From early expressive paintings reflecting societal dynamics and the human psyche to his current architectural projects, Jozef’s work challenges conventional norms. His minimalist designs invite viewers to question authority and explore deeper layers of simplicity and elegance. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sustainable Design from the University of Michigan’s Stamps School, he cultivated a foundation in environmentally responsible practices, which he now expands upon in his dual Master of Architecture and Master of Urban Design (M.Arch & M.U.D) studies at the Taubman School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
Guided by a fascination with natural processes, Jozef explores the intersections of design and ecology, particularly through biofusion and the resilience of mycelium networks. His vision is to push architecture toward a more sustainable and interconnected future, where structures harmonize with their environments to create spaces that reflect both ecological intelligence and human needs.
