Ergonomic Potato Peeler

In this project, I wanted to design a modern potato peeler that is unlike any others you may have seen. Through this process, I was thinking a lot about sustainability and how you can design something so sleek and elegant, in a way can help with sustainability. If your design is so distinguished, the consumer won’t want to get a new one, and in theory shouldn’t have to get a new one for a very long time. If all design functioned in this way, we would reduce a lot of waste as a world.

This project is foam, and in-production would be hand made out of wood. At some point, I want to revisit this project and make it out of wood. This discourse surrounding how to make design something that can support sustainability and not have products end up in landfills. This spark of interest in elegantly distinguished design has pushed many upcoming projects and research. You can see that in my Chair Exploration Project, and more to come.
