Modern Chair Exploration
Growing up in a Frank Lloyd Wright home, I have always been interested in this style. From being exposed to it from a young age, my mind has constantly gone back to this aesthetic. I’ve questioned from a young age, why do people like this style so much? Through research I have continued to explore this in my more recent work, but at this time, this was more of an exploration of the process to creating my own design. Starting from simple sketches, to a functioning chair, I considered important critique from my peers and professor.
In-Process Iterations
One of my biggest critiques of growing up in a Frank Lloyd Wright home, was that it felt more like a museum than a home. Many of these historic designs were iconic, but after further analyzation I realize none of them are very approachable, just different. Through this project, I started to realize how much I don’t like that Frank never would consider the families living in his homes. Specifically in this project I was focusing on simplicity in my discourse, and how that can affect the consumers mental health. This realization will be the introduction to more work that will come later on
